The antique mirror finish applied inside of the star was spotty. There were spots where there either was a significant coverage problems, the finish had came off or something that allowed you to see the actual light bulb inside. As you'd move around the light you would get blasts of really bright light from the uncovered spots as opposed to the beautiful pleasing glow the light actually gives off through the antique mirror finish. It's quite noticeable. So I am truly torn while I write this review. The light fixture is really gorgeous and it’s exactly what I wanted. What bothers me is that the boxes and packing materials are subpar at best and completely inadequate at worst. There are several reviews that mention this same thing and it’s without a doubt, true. The first light fixture came mangled and broken. The points of the light had punctured both boxes it was packed in due to how thin the cardboard was.I sent an inquiry to the company and never received any reply, however, several days later I received another light fixture and mounting kit. It arrived in good condition purely by luck because it was packed in the very same flimsy manner the first one was. Lol. Although I had not requested a second mounting kit, I’m very glad they sent one because between the two kits- there were hardly enough of the correct pieces to hang it properly. I’m fact, the screws they sent were not long enough. Fortunately, my husband had the correct ones in his workshop or we would have had to stop for a Home Depot run. It has been a pain in the butt and I still have to return the broken fixture in the broken boxes to a UPS facility- hopefully that goes more smoothly than the rest of the transaction! All in all, I love my new light and get compliments on it every time someone comes over. Just know what you may get yourself in to.Arrived as expected. Quality great. Casts lovely shadows in my entryway. This is the only star that I have seen on Amazon that is truly a Moravian star in shape. Moravian stars typically have more points than this one it is none the less the closest Amazon has.As for the plug instead of hardwiring, that would be a typical Moravian thing as well. Stars were generally only seen at Christmas.I plan to hardwire mine.the light is beautiful. Wish it had come with appropriate hanging materials. A plug in cord? Really.Pretty cheesy. I gave in a low rating mostly because it came packed in styro popcorn...lots and lots of popcorn, This stuff can't be re-cycled and is hard to get rid of. I had to pay to take it to a landfill. All in all it cot me about forty dollars on top of the Amazon price which made the cot considerable higher than I had planned.Every one of these lights I’ve found has been about 10”, and I wanted it in my 2 story open stairwell so 10” just wasn’t going to cut it. I love this style light and I’m so glad I finally found a bigger one that doesn’t break the bank! It is the glass light fixture, and a long cord with a plug like one you’d plug into the wall. I had an electrician install it so he cut the wire and hard wired it into the ceiling. I had to buy chain and a cap thing to put flush against the ceiling. It looks perfect, but definitely had to do more running around than I thought I’d need to do.I had a problem with the first shipment and very soon after sending my email to the seller, I got back a great response. They sent me a shipping label with the new light right away. I haven't had a chance to hang this one, but it's beautiful and I expect the best outcome.I wasn't sure if this would work. When I bought it, I checkeck their return policy. When it didn't work out I went to return the star and they would not pay for me to ship it back. It cost $170 through ups to return the lamp, ugh!!. Thankfully Amazon helped rectify. Buying 3rd party is NEVER an option for me, always choose to buy through Amazon unless your willing to take that risk. Bummed about lamp, happy with Amazon.
